We include some cases in our Read About The Law sections to serve a starting point for research. You can use the sources in our guides to find more cases on your topic.
Most of the cases listed in our guides link to Google Scholar. Follow the link, then click on “How Cited” in the left-hand corner of the page.
You can keyword search for more cases on the topic. Cases go back to 1950.
If you’re at the Law Library using our free Westlaw or Lexis subscriptions, use KeyCite (Westlaw) or Shepard’s (Lexis) and the Headnotes found in most cases. Ask one of the librarians to show you how this is done.
Statutes on Westlaw, Lexis or in print have lists of cases after the statute. These are cases that have interpreted the statute. Annotated print statutes are available at the Law Library.
Most of them will tell you what the important cases on this topic are.
