With some exceptions researching alimony means researching state law, but there may be circumstances such as military marriages, tax issues, or bankruptcy, where federal law is involved.
Alimony is also called spousal support so use that phrase as well if you are doing a keyword search to find more information on alimony. You should also search on broader headings, like "Domestic Relations" or "Divorce Law and Legislation" because alimony is often included within these topics. The subject headings below will lead you in a targeted search through the catalog to find more resources about alimony.
